On January 1, 2014, beIN Media Group was created as the new independent holding company for beIN Sports. Announced in January 2016, beIN Media Group reached an agreement with Turner Broadcasting System for the exclusive rights to broadcast multiple Turner-licensed entertainment and news channels in the Middle East and North Africa.
