Instagram, based in San Francisco and co-founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, was officially launched in the App store in October 2010 and has since grown rapidly, with Instagram having 100,000 registered users in just one week of launch. Instagram then quickly reached more than 50 countries with more than 700 online communities, and just last week Instagram released a version of the app for Google Android smartphones, followed by another immediate spike in users. The latest information shows that the number of Instagram users has exceeded 30 million.
