Waze Ltd., originally called LinQmap, was founded in Israel in 2008 by Uri Levine, software engineers Ehud Shabtai and Amir Shinar. Waze, an app created by the company, has a good ranking on Google and is popular with the public. Unlike traditional GPS navigation software, Waze is a community-based application that collects some complementary map data and other traffic information from users. In addition, as one of the world’s largest community-based traffic navigation applications, Waze is free for users to download and use.
