Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google Inc. that was written based on other open source software, including WebKit, with the goal of improving stability, speed and security, and creating a simple and efficient user interface. The beta version of the software was released on September 2, 2008, and is available for download in 50 languages and for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Google will launch Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) on Chrome. In November 2018, Google announced that it would remove the persistent provision of PWAs from its Chrome 71 web browser starting in December 2018.

The best part of Chrome is its multi-process architecture that protects the browser from crashing due to malicious web pages and applications. Each tab, window, and plug-in runs in its own environment, so a problem with one site does not affect the opening of other sites. This further improves system security by limiting each site and application to a closed environment.

Google Chrome uses the WebKit engine, which is simple, compact, and memory efficient, making it easy for new developers to get started. When browsing the web, "Google Chrome" can query or pre-intercept the IP addresses of all links on the web.

One of Chrome's signature features is Omnibox, a universal toolbar that sits at the top of the browser. Omnibox learns the user's preferences, for example, if a user prefers to use the search function on the PCWorld site, Chrome will remember that the PCWorld site has its own search box once the user visits the site. Once the user visits the site, Chrome remembers that the PCWorld site has its own search box and lets the user choose whether to use the site's search function. If the user chooses to use the PCWorld site's search function, the search operation will be performed automatically.
